OG YOGA INSTRUCTORS > ALISON SCUTTI
Alison Scutti
Hi! I’m Alison, one of the OG Yoga instructors and Director of Operations. My pronouns are she/her, and I’m Autistic and live with several co-occurring conditions that can make it challenging to thrive in a world designed for the able-bodied and neurotypical; but that also allow me to connect with others who may feel like they don’t belong in a typical yoga class.
My first experience with yoga was nearly 30 years ago, when I took yoga for PE credit during my freshman year of college. I experienced a deep sense of peace and relaxation in that first class and couldn’t wait to learn more, and I have been practicing yoga in some form ever since. However, I didn’t feel the call to teach until I found OG Yoga many years later. As a neurodivergent person living in a larger body with several invisible disabilities, chronic pain, and the effects of childhood and other trauma, I was seeking a kinder, gentler practice and a sense of community, but I struggled to feel like I fit in at most yoga and fitness studios. When I began taking classes at OG Yoga, I felt like I’d found a home. I connected deeply with their trauma-informed and inclusive approach, and wanted to be a part of making yoga more accessible for those who need it most.
I completed my 200 hour trauma-informed yoga teacher training at OG Yoga in 2022, and have been teaching in the studio and at various initiatives ever since. In 2025 I took on an expanded role as Director of Operations. I truly believe that yoga is for everyone, and I’m passionate about removing barriers and increasing accessibility.
Outside of the studio, you can find me…
When I’m not at the studio, you can usually find me at home with my husband, 2 young kids, and cat. I love spending time outdoors, reading, playing board games, baking, and spying on birds. I enjoy crafting- lately that includes crochet, embroidery and cross stitch, and constructing anything and everything out of paper, cardboard, and felt with my kids. I love the beach and even after more than a decade here in San Diego, I’m still blown away by the fact that there are palm trees in my front yard! I have a Masters of Science in Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics from Drexel University College of Medicine, and work full time as a Clinical Trial Manager.
