Randy Xayasomloth
Randy’s early life was shaped by resilience and survival. Raised by his grandmother after his parents arrived in the United States as refugees from Laos during the Vietnam War, Randy grew up in a crowded two-bedroom duplex with most of his grandmother’s 13 children. Life was not easy, and he was exposed from a young age to violence, crime, and the struggles of men in his community who battled addiction or gang involvement.
As a teenager, Randy faced his own challenges with the law and life on the streets, spending time in the juvenile system and confronting experiences that left him questioning whether he would make it past 21. A traumatic event at 18 became a turning point, setting him on a new path.
Randy pursued culinary school after high school, discovering a love for cooking. However, financial constraints and the pressures of surviving poverty led him to enter the workforce early. It wasn’t until he discovered OG Yoga that he truly began to understand the impact of trauma on his life. Through meditation, breathwork, and yoga asana practice, Randy learned tools to regulate his emotions, ground himself in the present, and begin to release the trauma stored in his body. What he once struggled with—anger, nightmares, and a disconnect from his body—became a path toward healing.
Today, Randy is a passionate OG Yoga teacher, bringing his lived experience and empathy to his classes. He teaches at several OG Yoga community partnerships for specialty populations and leads a weekly Gentle Hatha class every Friday at 6 PM at OG Yoga Studio. Randy is deeply committed to giving back, guiding others toward healing, self-awareness, and connection through yoga.
