OG YOGA INSTRUCTORS > ARWA KAKAVAND

Arwa Kakavand

I was born and raised on the East Coast (NY/NJ) and happily a West Coast (San Diego) transplant. I'm a human and civil rights attorney at a nonprofit, a certified trauma-informed yoga teacher, and a lucky mom to an amazing toddler who doubles as my yoga buddy! I aim to amplify the voices of BIPOC in the yoga space, honor the origins of yoga, and teach through a humble, trauma-informed, accessible for ALL, lens. I am also passionate about helping ALL children thrive, move their bodies, and calm their busy minds.

Words I live by…

Meet yourself where you are, with kindness and compassion.

What inspires me…

I am inspired by the resiliency, courage, humanity, and kindness I see in my son, my clients as a lawyer, students as a yoga teacher, and in the community at large. It genuinely restores my faith in humanity and our potential.

Outside of the studio…

You can find me *trying* new things. I love being in the outdoors with my family - hiking, camping, and taking photographs. I'm also equally happy at home reading a good book, binging Netflix, and spending time with my family.
